Winner Xavier Prather Got Engaged to Kenzie Hansen

Xavier Prather has revealed his next big move after winning Season 23 of Big Brother.

The lawyer and reality TV star, 29, got engaged to girlfriend Kenzie Hansen over the weekend, sharing photos of their romantic proposal on Instagram on Monday.

“Thank you everyone for the kind words and congratulatory comments,” Prather wrote. “We’re still over the moon right now.”

In the photos, Prather popped the question at MDRD, a Moderna Spanish restaurant located atop the Amway Grand Plaza hotel overlooking the skyline of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The place was covered with red and white petals that were placed in the shape of a heart. Behind them, the words “Marry me” were written in large white letters.

Hansen was taken there by Prather, who blindfolded his future wife. The couple then celebrated with family and friends waiting nearby.

For the milestone, he wore a plum-colored suit with a white button-down shirt and black shoes. Hansen, meanwhile, stayed classic in a little sleeveless black dress. She complemented her look with black heels and gold jewelry.

Of course, the most important piece of jewelry Hansen wore was the oval-shaped Rogers & Hollands engagement ring proposed by Prather.

The central stone was set in a silver band inlaid with smaller diamonds around its perimeter.

On her Instagram story, Prather revealed that the couple had visited the local family business to pick out the ring before their marriage proposal, but that Hansen had left the design entirely to her.

When a fan asked how he got down on one knee while issue with a torn Achilles tendon, a fractured ankle and a broken wrist, Prather showed a video one of his relatives captured of the engagement from a room above the balcony. “Seriously, it was a struggle, but I managed to make it work,” she wrote.

He went on to point out that it took him five months to plan the entire proposal, because it was a “full-day affair” to install all the decorations on the site. “Everything went according to plan,” Prather said.

Before asking for her hand, Prather broke with tradition and took Hansen’s two parents to dinner to get their blessing to marry her. “My fiancee has a great relationship with her parents,” he said. “I wouldn’t have agreed to ask one and not the other.”

As for the wedding planning and “creative control” over the big event, Prather said she plans to leave that to her Hansen, but he will help her as much as she wants.

Her story also included a message of thanks to “all the family and friends who kept this secret and helped make our day so memorable.”

It’s surreal,” Prather said after his win. “I wouldn’t have been here without all the members of the Barbecue and every member of the jury. And the non-jury members, who were part of the season, will never thank you enough. I am very lucky to have met each and every one of you and we have all made history this season so I think we should all be proud.”

The 25th season of Big Brother is scheduled to air in August 2023.
